HC denies bail to accused who threatened to kill cricketer Shakib

The High Court (HC) on Tuesday refused to grant bail to Mohsin Talukder, an accused in a case filed under the Digital Security Act 2018, for threatening to kill cricketer Shakib Al Hasan on a social media platform.

The HC joint bench comprising Justice Jahangir Hossain Selim and Justice Md Badruzzaman passed the order following a bail application by Mohsin Talukder.

The HC, however, issued a rule asking the state why he should not be granted bail within the next four weeks.

Talking to The Financial Express, Deputy Attorney General Dr Md Bashir Ullah confirmed the matter, saying that the court issued the rule without granting the accused bail.

On November 14, 2020, Mohsin Talukder came live from his Facebook account. In the live video on Facebook, he raised his sword and threatened to kill Shakib.

On November 16 last year, Sub-Inspector (SI) Mahbub Morshed filed a case against Mohsin under the Digital Security Act 2018.

On November 17 last year, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Mohsin Talukder from Sunamganj.
