Biman Bangladesh Airlines will start its Hajj service this year operating 189 flights, including 157 dedicated ones, from July 4.

A total of 127,198 pilgrims from Bangladesh are slated to perform Hajj this year, of which Bangladesh Biman will carry exactly half - 63,599 pilgrims -said Biman General Manager, public relations Shakil Meraj.

For the first time, the national flag carrier is going to conduct 11 flights from Dhaka to Madina, besides, 10 from Chattogram to Jeddah, three from Sylhet to Jeddah, seven dedicated from Chattogram to Jeddah and 126 flights from Dhaka to Jeddah, the official said.

This year Hajj flight will use Biman's recently inducted Boeing 777-300 ER plane, according to UNB.

The return Hajj flights will start from August 17 and end on September 14.

The immigration will be held in Dhaka so that the pilgrims will not have to stand in long line but the required documents will have to be sent a day before the flight.

The government has taken necessary steps so that the pilgrims can go to Saudi Arabia smoothly, Meraj added.
