Graft case trial against Moudud to continue: HC

The High Court on Monday cleared way for continuation of trial in a corruption case against BNP leader Moudud Ahmed.

Justice Obaidul Hassan and Justice SM Kuddus Zaman rejected Moudud's petition to stay proceedings of the case that accuses him of having undisclosed property of Tk 73.8 million and hiding wealth information of Tk 440 million, reports UNB.

The Anti-Corruption Commission filed the case on September 16, 2007 with Gulshan police.

Former law minister Moudud, a lawyer by training, stood for himself while Khurshid Alam Khan represented the ACC.

Charges were framed against the BNP leader on June 21 last year. Moudud moved the High Court last month to have the trial proceedings stayed.
