Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal has said the current education system is not fully suitable for improving necessary manpower to build a developed economy by 2041.
One of the biggest challenges of Bangladesh is to develop its human capital for graduating into a developed nation by 2041. But the present education curriculum is not up to the mark to achieve the target,” he said while briefing journalists on the state of the Bangladesh’s economy in Dhaka on Thursday.
He earmarked three challenges - the current education system, higher oversight and reforms in the banking system and the improvement of tax and revenue systems - for mobilising more domestic resources.
Mr Kamal said Bangladesh’s banking system is currently crossing a bumpy road which he thinks could be overcome through higher oversight.
“Bangladesh’s economy will grow at higher pace in the future days as the world economic performance is highly prospective in the coming days,” he said.
The planning minister claimed that Bangladesh’s economic growth is very much inclusive as World Economic Forum recently ranked the country 34th in terms of inclusive growth nation.
He said the country created 3.7 million jobs in the last year which proved that it is very much in line with the ‘inclusive growth’ model.
Planning secretary, members and high officials of the Planning Commission were present, among others, at the press briefing.
