BGB chief Abul Hossain back to army

Director General (DG) of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Major General Abul Hossain has been brought back to the armed forces.

According to a gazette notification issued by the Ministry of Public Administration on March 7, he has been attached to the Bangladesh Armed Forces Division.

The order will come into effect immediately, it added. The 56-year-old army officer is set to retire in mid-March.

Commissioned in 1981, Hossain took charge of the para-military force in November 2016.

Prior to his job with the border force, he served as the military secretary to the president. He also served the Army Headquarters as the engineer-in-chief. He was the commandant at the Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) and the Bangladesh Ordnance Factory.

Graduated from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Hossain was also the chief engineer of the Dhaka City Corporation.

He served in different engineers’ battalions, including commanding 17 Engineers’ Construction Battalion and Explosive Ordnance Disposal Battalion in Kuwait, reports bdnews24.com.
