Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said everybody should keep in mind that the government will never bow down to any pressure on the question of ethics.

The Prime Minister made the remarks indicating those who are trying to put global pressure on government over actions taken against the 'instigators' of recent movement for safe roads.

She was addressing a discussion organised by Bangladesh Chhatra League at Ganabhaban marking the National Mourning Day on Friday, reports BSS.

Sheikh Hasina said the 'evil force' and some so-called civil society members tried to achieve political gain capitalising on the sentiments of the agitating school children after tragic death of two school children.

“The opportunists tried to spread falsehood and instigate people by taking the advantage of social media, a contribution of Awami League,” she said.

“Lives of many children might have been endangered because of their instigation… but they didn’t realise the possible danger for a single moment while they were trying to take advantage of the children’s protest,” Sheikh Hasina added.

Sheikh Hasina said a section of civil society members raised hue and cry as the government took appropriate action against the instigators.

"They are also trying to put pressure from across the global," the Prime Minister said.

“But, everybody should keep in mind that the government would never compromise or succumb to any pressure on the question of ethics,” she said.

Sheikh Hasina asked the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leaders and activists to do politics upholding the ideology of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the founder of the student body.

Noting that BCL has made sacrifice in every achievement of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina, also the AL president, asked the BCL men to work for the people.

She directed every leader and activist of BCL to acquire knowledge first as education is the biggest asset.

BCL President Rezwanul Haque Chowdhury Shovon presided over the discussion, which was conducted by BCL General Secretary Golam Rabbani.
