Govt to recruit 10,000 physicians: Health minister

Health Minister Mohammad Nasim on Tuesday said all the necessary arrangements have been made to recruit 10,000 physicians for providing equitable and inclusive health services in the country’s rural and urban areas.

 

The minister came up with the disclosure while addressing the inaugural ceremony of ‘Shashtha Suroksha Karmashuchi’ -SSK (Health Protection Activity) of the government in Madhupur and Ghatail upazilas, Tangail district, reports UNB.

 

Health Economic Unit (HEU) of the Health Services Division of the Health Ministry organised the event at Tangail district auditorium in Madhupur.

 

Naism said the precondition to the recruitment of physicians is that they have to remain present in their upazila health complex workplaces regularly. “Or else, they’ll lose their jobs immediately.”

 

The Health Minister said the government is pledge-bound to provide health protection for all, and the SSK project is a pilot initiative to give health protection to poor people.

 

“The poor will be provided with health card to obtain free health services for 50 diseases. Poor people will also be brought under TK 50,000 health insurance coverage to ensure improved treatment for them in district hospitals,” he promised.

 

Nasim said the government is providing health services among rural people through more than 13000 community clinics for achieving health-related sustainable goals by 2030 and ensuring universal health coverage.

 

He also distributed free health cards among poor people in the inauguration ceremony.

 

State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Zahid Maleque, Awami League Presidium member Dr Abdur Razzak, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University VC Professor Dr Kamrul Hasan Khan also spoke at the programme with, Asadul Haque, Director General (Additional Secretary) of Health Economic Unit (HEU) of the Health Services Division, in the chair.
