The government has decided to distribute over Tk 10.37 million to some 254 Christian religious institutions across the country on the occasion of Christmas Day on December 25.
The decision was taken at the 20th board meeting of the Christian Religious Welfare Trust to help Christian community celebrate their biggest festival, Christmas.
State Minister for Religious Affairs and chairman of the Christian Religious Welfare Trust Md Faridul Haque Khan chaired the event held on Wednesday.
The fund will be disbursed from the Relief and Welfare Fund of the Prime Minister on the occasion of Christmas.
The grants will be used for repairing, renovating and development works of the religious institutions, according to a circular issued by the religious affairs ministry.
The meeting also decided that Christmas this year will be celebrated maintaining social distance and health guidelines due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
