RMP to get eight new police stations

The government has set up eight more police stations in Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) to make the city better and safer place to live.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is likely to inaugurate the police stations on February 22, during her visit to the northern city, reports BSS.

The new police stations are: Shahmukhdum, Airport, Matiher, Katakhali, Belpukur, Rajpara, Kasiadanga, Boalia Model, Chandrima, Paba, Karnahar and Damkura, the report says.

With the new and reconstructed police stations, the number of total stations will be stand at 12.

Mahabubor Rahman, Commissioner of RMP, said the metropolitan began its journey with four police stations-Shahmukhdum, Matiher, Rajpara and Boalia- in 1992.

The National Implementation Committee for Administrative Reforms (NICAR) has approved the proposal for setting up the new police stations, he said on Tuesday.

Mr. Rahman said, "We have already got manpower for the new stations."

The RMP chief said their vision is to provide quality service by competent, efficient and dedicated professionals enjoying trust and respect of citizens to make the city a safer place.
