Govt plans to provide Covid jabs to 20m people by September

The government aims at vaccinating 20 million people against Covid by next month, Health Minister Zahid Maleque said on Tuesday.

The minister said this at a virtual programme on the occasion of the National Mourning Day, held at Manikganj Government Boys High School ground in Manikganj district.

"We have tried our best to keep people well during the pandemic," he said.

Referring to the declining trend in Covid fatalities and infections the minister said the country's economy has been doing well compared to other countries. He urged the people to maintain health guidelines to ward off the virus.

Zahid said the August 15 massacre of Bangabandhu and his family members in 1975 was linked with the attempt to kill Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the August 21 grenade attack in 2006, reports UNB.

He called for remaining alert against anti-government conspiracy of BNP, Jamaat and Hefazat-e-Islam.
