Govt plans SSC exams in new method from next year

The government plans to introduce a new method to arrange the secondary school certificate (SSC) examinations from next year to prevent question paper leaks.

The plan was made at an inter-ministry meeting at the Secretariat in Dhaka on Tuesday in the wake of repeated allegations of question paper leaks.

Secondary and Higher Education Division Secretary Sohorab Hossain informed the media about the plan after the meeting on Tuesday.

However, the secretary did not disclose the details of the proposed method.

"The method will be fixed through discussions," he said.

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid called the high-level meeting after a government committee submitted its report on question paper leaks.

Home Minister Asaduzaaman Khan Kamal and Telecoms and ICT Minister Mustafa Jabbar were present at the meeting.

Six secretaries and other concerned officials also joined the meeting held from 3:30pm to 5:30pm, said local news agencies.

According to the minutes of Tuesday’s meeting on ways to hold public exams properly, the ministers and officials identified six reasons behind the menace.

Bangladesh Telecommunications Regulatory Commission Chairman Shahjahan Mahmood and top officials of related ministries and law-enforcing agencies were also present.
