Govt makes it must for coaching to close before SSC exams

Ministry of education in its frantic bid to check question leak has ordered coaching centres to close three days before start of the next SSC and equivalent examinations.

It also asked the centres to stay closed until the tests are over. Moreover, the ministry is even mulling ways to shut off access to internet and Facebook-like social media during the exams.

On Monday, the government made the decision on coaching centres in an effort to create a “fair and fraud-free environment” for the examinees.

Minister for Education Nurul Islam Nahid presided over a national monitoring committee meeting that made the decision.

Theory tests for the SSC and equivalent examinees are to be held between February 1 and February 24. Coaching centres, accordingly, will have to remain closed from January 29 to February 24.

The examinees will have to enter their respective exam centre and take assigned seats at least 30 minutes before the start of the exam.

The education ministry in a statement said, “No excuses will be accepted.”

An examinee who’ll fail to report 30 minutes before the start of the exams won’t be allowed in, reports bdnews24.

According to the statement, any examinee found in possession of a mobile phone will be ejected from the exam immediately in an effort to curb cheating.

“None will be able to use smartphones at the exam centres. Secretary of the examination centre will only be able to use a regular phone.”
