Government inaugurates alternate routes to ease Dhaka-Tangail communication

The government on Wednesday inaugurated Balia-Warsi-Mirzapur road and a bridge over Bongshi River to ease communication between Dhaka and Tangail.

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader formally inaugurated the 3.5 kilometre road and 216 metre bridge in Manikganj-Savar area at a ceremony.

The new road and bridge is likely to be an alternative route as the usual road to reach Tangail, the Savar-Chandra road, is mostly packed with traffic, said Roads and Highways Department officials.

He also said the two-lane road will also reduce distance by 10 km as Dhaka-Tangail road's traffic gets diverted towards Dhamrai road to reach Tangail.

The cost of road and bridge is Tk 90 million and Tk 175 million respectively.
