Gazette on quota system after receiving PM’s directive: Secretary

A gazette on quota in government service will be issued after receiving Prime Minister's instruction in this regard.

Public Administration Ministry's Senior Secretary Mozammel Haque Khan came up with the statement on Thursday while talking to reporters at the secretariat.

"There is nothing to hurry. No recruitment process will begin immediately," said the senior secretary, reports UNB.

Responding to a question whether the quota system will be reformed or repealed, the secretary said that it would be known later as the decision will be taken following the order of the Prime Minister.

In response to another question, the secretary said that they are now waiting for the Prime Minister's directive.

"People are coming up with different opinions and speculations which are creating confusion. This is not an easy task, rather complicated to some extent. However, everything will be clear after getting PM's directive," he said.

Meanwhile, cabinet secretary Md Shafiul Alam said a committee will be formed to scrutinise the quota system.

The next step will be taken according to the recommendations of the committee, he said.
