Fruit festival kicks off in the capital

The ‘National Fruit Tree Planting Fortnight’ and ‘National Fruit Exhibition-2018’ began at the AKM Giasuddin Milky Auditorium at the capital’s Farmgate area on Friday.

Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque inaugurated the function as the chief guest.

The exhibition, an initiative of agriculture ministry, will continue till June 24 while the National Tree Planting fortnight will end on July 6.

Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury attended the event as the special guest.

81 stalls from 9 public and 51 private organisations were set up at the fair premises to showcase 99 varieties of fruits, including 102 varieties of mango.

The fair will remain open for all from 9 am to 9 pm every day.

Visitors can purchase chemical free various types of fruits at the fair.
