NATORE, June 30: Hundreds of mango farmers in Lalpur upazila of the district have started getting benefits by applying fruits bagging method this season.
The farmers of the upazila have taken some 0.5 million mango under the fruits bagging method this season.
Cultivators imported the bag from China with the help of the Dhaka Mallika Seed Company, a good number of farmers said.
Each bag cost Tk 3.90, they added.
Farmers said the method can be apply in growing all mango varieties like Khirshapat, Gopalbhoge, Langra, Amropali, Gauromati, Fazli and Krishanbhoge.
"Fruit bagging method keeps fruits fresh and spot-free", said Kamruzzaman Lablu of Bojoypur village under Lalpur upazila.
The grower said he spent Tk 1,24,800 to purchase the bag for 32,000 mangoes.
Upazila agriculture officer Habibul Islam said fruit bagging method is gaining popularity in the area.
He said the locally-produced varieties of mango are exported to different counties.
