Four, including PEC examinee, die in road crashes

At least four people were killed in three separate road accidents in Natore and Chattogram districts on Sunday morning.

In Natore, two people were killed and 30 others including 20 students were injured following a head-on collision between a bus and a truck on Natore-Pabna highway in Gunai Hati area of Boraigram upazila.

The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.

The accident took place around 9:45am when the bus carrying a group of students of Bonpara Degree College and Bonpara Mahila Degree College collided head-on with the cement-laden truck, leaving truck driver and an unidentified bus passenger dead on the spot, said Abdul Halim, officer-in-charge of Bonpara Police Station, reports UNB.

In Chattogram, Primary Education Completion (PEC) examinee Esha Akhter, 12, and female garment worker Meherun Akhter, 26, were killed in separate road accidents in Patia upazila and Bandar area of the port city in the morning.

Sub-inspector Alauddin Talukder of Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) outpost said that a bus hit Esha Akhter, daughter of Dedarul Islam of Bininihara area, while she was waiting for a vehicle in front of Chilashah Market in Patia upazila around 9:00am to attend her exam, leaving her critically injured. Esha later died from her injuries.

Meanwhile, Meherun Akhter was killed as a bus hit her in Majhirpara area around 7:15am while she was going to her workplace, said Jahirul Haque, in-charge of CMCH Police Outpost.
