Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence (BFSCD) on Sunday formed a four-member committee to probe into the fire that hit a six-storey building in Dhaka’s Banani area.

A huge fire broke out at the building housed by different business entities on Saturday. However, no casualties were reported in the blaze.

The four-member probe committee is headed by Noor Hasan Ahmed, Deputy Director (Development) of the fire department, the BFSCD media official M. Rayhan told The Financial Express.

Other members are Niaz Ahmed, Deputy Assistant Director of the department; Senior Station Officer of Tejgaon Fire Station, warehouse inspector of the concerned area and an inspector.

The body has been asked to submit the report within seven working days.

The Dhaka North City Corporation suspended trade licences of the business organisations housed in the building as they reportedly violated the building code and different terms and conditions set by the fire department.
