Four die in Gazipur, Bagerhat road crashes

At least four people were killed and another injured in two separate accidents in Gazipur and Bagerhat districts on Monday.

In Gazipur, three people were killed as a pickup van hit a covered van in Joydevpur on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in Gazipur district on Monday.

The identities of the deceased couldn't be known yet, reports UNB.

Md Abu Yusuf, senior station officer of Joydevpur Fire Service, said the Mymensingh-bound pickup van hit the covered van from behind at Nanduain at around 8:00am, leaving the trio dead at the spot.

Fire Service members recovered the bodies and handed over to police. The bodies were sent to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Hospital for autopsy, he added.

In Bagerhat, a truck driver was killed as his truck hit a roadside tree at Mulghor on Khulna-Mawa highway in Fakirhat upazila of the district on Monday morning.

The deceased was identified as Kamal Hossain of Noornagar in Khulna.

Katakhali Highway Police's Officer-in-Charge Md RabiulAlam said that the Barishal-bound goods-laden truck coming from Mongla crashed into a roadside tree after its driver lost control over the steering, leaving him dead on the spot and his helper injured.

Fire Service members recovered the body and sent it to Khulna Medical College and Hospital (KMCH) for autopsy. Injured helper Shamim Hossain, 28, was also admitted to the KMCH.
