Agriculture Minister Dr Muhammad Abdur Razzaque on Friday said the production of food grains (rice, wheat and maize) has increased to about 45.3 million metric tonnes in the current financial year.
The minister also underlined the need for global exchange of knowledge and experience related to agricultural research and development.
He said it while speaking as the chief guest at a technical session on the occasion of World Food Day 2020 at a city hotel in the capital on Friday afternoon.
At the same time, for sustainable agricultural development, the country must put greater importance to the development of climate-smart agricultural technologies and the protection of biodiversity, he insists.
Mr Razzaque further said that Bangladesh has achieved unimaginable success in agriculture and food security in the last one decade as a result of timely steps taken by the incumbent government.
