FM Ali in New Delhi to attend Vajpayee’s funeral

Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali reached New Delhi on Friday morning to attend the funeral of former Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

The government of Bangladesh is deeply shocked at the sudden demise of the former Prime Minister of India, said the Foreign Ministry.

Vajpayee, a leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), died on Thursday after a prolonged illness. He was 93. He had suffered a stroke in 2009.

His funeral will be held at 4:00 pm on Friday with state honours in New Delhi, BJP leaders told media in New Delhi, UNB reported.

The former Indian Prime Minister’s remains were kept at his home for paying last tributes between 7.30 am and 8.30 am, and then was taken to the BJP headquarters at 9:00 am.
