Two rivers in Bangladesh crossed danger marks at two points as the country’s flood situation improved significantly, according to a bulletin of the Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC) issued in the city on Wednesday.

Two points are Khaliajuri (Netrokona) and Kalmakanda (Netrokona) stations of Baulai and Someswari Rivers respectively, the FFWC said.

However, all the major rivers in the north-eastern region of the country are in falling trend as the chance of heavy rainfall in the north-eastern region and adjoining upstream basin (Meghalaya, Assam, Tripura and Barak) in next 48 hours is unlikely.

As a result, all the major rivers in Sylhet, Sunamganj, Netrokona, Kishoreganj, Habiganj, Brahmanbaria and Moulvi Bazar districts may continue falling.

Among the 39 monitored stations, water levels at eight river stations monitored by the FFWC rose while at 30 stations the water levels fell, the bulletin added.
