Flood situation improves in Moulvibazar

The overall flood condition in Moulvibazar slightly improved on Saturday, but the sufferings of flood affected people have increased immensely.

The flood water has started reducing from Moulvibazar municipality, Kulaura, Komolganj, Rajnagar and Sadar upazila leaving the roads and houses in devastated conditions.

Several holes were created on the roads while wastage of rotten animals and threes accumulated at different places triggering awful odours, reports UNB.

People have been suffering from acute drinking water crisis as well as water-borne diseases started to spread at different areas while most of the clay-made houses collapsed after the flood.

Transportation on Moulvibazar-Kulaura road and Moulvibazar-Sylhet highway resumed but strong current of flood water inundated a culvert on the road to Chatlapur Immigration Check Post halting export-import between Bangladesh and India.

Local Water Development Board said the water of Kushiyara River was flowing 26 cm above the danger level at Sherpur point on Saturday.
