The Bangladesh Railway (BR) has kept train communication on Jamalpur-Sarishabari route since Friday evening after floodwater inundated its track at Dewanganj bazaar.

Due to the overflowing Jamuna, the flood situation is unlikely to improve shortly, according to BR officials.

RHD monitoring cell said inundation of roads was reported from its 11 divisions since Sunday evening.

"Very few incidents of the washing out of roads were recorded. Floodwaters came close to the shoulders or inundated some parts of roads in different divisions," said an official in RHD's maintenance wing.

He, however, said the actual loss of the road network in floods could be assessed after the recession of water.

Due to coronavirus, BR officials said, most rail communications in Jamalpur-Sarishabari section have remained stopped.

Only a parcel train is now operating. It stops at Jamalpur to drop goods, they added.
