Five people die as bus ploughs into CNG auto-rickshaw in Sirajganj

Five people, including a couple, were killed in a road accident at Baghabari Bus Stand in Shahjadpur upazila on Sunday morning.

The deceased have been identified as Sirajul Islam, 30, and his wife Arifa, 25, residents of Santhia upazila, Abdur Razzak, 42, of Faridpur upazila, Shamim, 50, of Bera upazila of Pabna district, and Towhidul Islam, 35, hailing from Shahjadpur upazila, according to a news agency report.

Police said the accident took place when a Dhaka-bound bus of 'Tisha Paribahan' drove into a parked CNG-run auto-rickshaw in the area around 11:30am, leaving four passengers of the three-wheeler dead on the spot and its driver Shamim injured.

Later, Shamin was taken to a local hospital where doctors pronounced him dead, said sub-inspector of Shahjadpur Police Station Motaleb.
