Five prison guards of Kashimpur Central Jail were suspended on charge of taking and peddling drugs.
The suspended guards are Azizar Rahman, Rakibul Islam, Al Mamun, Majnu Miah and Mostakin.
Tipped off that Azizar was involved in taking Yaba and selling the contraband pills, the law enforcers searched his body on Thursday and recovered 600 Yaba tablets, said senior jail super Mizanur Rahman, reports UNB.
Later, he was suspended and handed over to police, Mizanur said, adding that a case was filed against him with Joydevpur Police Station.
Rakibul Islam, Al Mamun, Majnu Miah were taking drugs for a long time and police recovered 10 grams of hemp from the residence of Mustakin on Friday.
Later, the jail authorities suspended the four guards.
