Five-day long Asia Pacific Advanced Network conference begins Tuesday

The inauguration of the five-day long Asia Pacific Advanced Network (APAN53) conference will kick off on Tuesday in the city.

The conference is being held at the Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban in Dhaka University, organised by Bangladesh Research and Education Network (BdREN)-- a project under the University Grant Commission (UGC) with support of the government’s A2I project and Bangladesh Open University.

Nearly 1,000 persons from 30 countries who work in education and research fields are expected to participate in the conference both virtually and physically, a press release said.  

Member of the University Grant Commission (UGC) and also vice-chairperson of BdREN Dr Dil Afroza Begum said six keynote speeches will be delivered at the conference to address the burning issues like outcome-based education, smart agriculture, climate change, blended learning, financial technology and digital earth technology.

She said the interested participants will join in working groups, committees, plenary sessions, and other meetings to review progress, demonstrate advances in technology and applications, and make plans for future activities in the sectors.

Apart from the studies, the event also holds around 11 training workshops and 42 workgroup meetings covering telemedicine, agriculture, disaster mitigation, identity management, and some other issues.

Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni, her deputy Mohibul Hassan Chowdhury among others is expected to participate in the inaugural session.
