The infectious Covid-19 Omicron sub-variant BF.7 that swept over China has been detected in Bangladesh, according to the government's Institute of Epidemiology, Research and Disease Control (IEDCR) on Sunday.
Tahmina Shirin, director of IEDCR, confirmed it to the Financial Express.
A Chinese who came to visit Bangladesh was diagnosed with the variant, she added.
Earlier, 4 people, who from China came through Dhaka international airport on December 26, had covid-19 symptoms and their samples were sent to test. Finally, one of them was detected with the new fast transmittable Covid Omicron sub-variant.
