Firefighters put out Tejturi Bazar slum fire

After more than one hour of frantic efforts, firefighters doused the fire that broke out at a slum in capital's East Tejturi Bazar area on Monday noon.

Russel, duty officer of Fire Service and Civil Defence, said on information, nine firefighting units rushed to the spot and brought the flame under control around 1:20pm.

The fire broke out at the slum behind the railway market in the area around 12:00pm, according to a news agency report.

The cause of the blaze and the extent of losses could not be ascertained immediately, the official added.
