Five shops were gutted in a fire which broke out at a market in Brahmanbaria municipality area on Monday night.
Fire service sources said the fire originated from electric short circuit at a shop at Brahmanbaria School Market and soon spread to the adjoining four shops.
On information, a firefighting unit rushed in and doused the flame after two hours of frantic efforts, reports UNB.
