At least 35 shops were gutted in a fire that broke out at Elisha Junction Bazar in Bhola sadar upazila on Saturday night.
The fire originated from an electric short circuit at 'Amir Workshop' around 9:18pm and soon engulfed the adjoining shops numbering around 35 including two electronics showrooms, three electric shops, three mobile showrooms, and two hardware shops, said Md Jakir Hossain, deputy assistant director of Bhola Fire Service and Civil Defence.
On information, six fire-fighting units from Sadar, Burhanuddin, Lalmohan, and Char Fassion rushed in and put out the fire after two hours of frantic efforts, according to a news agency report.
The victims claimed that the loss caused by the fire was estimated Tk 60-70 million.
