Fire at city market under control

A fire that broke out at 'Anarkali Super Market' in the city's Mouchak area on Saturday afternoon was brought under control after 30 minutes of frantic effort.

The fire originated on the third floor of five-storey building around 5:20pm, said Kazi Najum Uzzaman, Deputy Director of Fire Service and civil Defence Zone-6.

Seven fire fighting units rushed to the scene and extinguished the fire around 5:50 pm, he said adding that a shop has been burnt completely, reports UNB.

However, no casualty was reported and the reason behind the fire could not be known yet, he added.
