Finland envoy visits Rohingya camps

Ambassador of Finland to Bangladesh and India Nina Vaskunlahti on Saturday visited Red Cross Red Crescent (RCRC) emergency hospital and the Rohingya camps in Kutupalong.

Ambassadors of Finland to Myanmar Riikka Laatu, Honorary Consul General of Finland and Chairman of Summit Group Muhammed Aziz Khan, Second Secretary, Embassy of Finland Nelli Mikkola and other senior officials were also present.

Honorary Consul General of Finland Aziz Khan donated Tk 2.0 million to Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BRCS) at the RCRC emergency hospital at Kutupalang.

Project Manager of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society Nurun Nabi accepted the donation, reports UNB citing a press release.

Ambassador Vaskunlahti appreciated the government of Bangladesh for its support to the Rohingyas living in the country.

"I wish to commend the government of Bangladesh for its valuable work for the Rohingya people," said Ambassador Vaskunlahti.

In addition to familiarising themselves with the operations of the field clinic, they discussed with the representatives of international organisations, representatives of the Rohingya people and authorities on-site to gain firsthand knowledge of the current situation at the camps.
