Farmers in the Nilphamari district are setting up light trap in their cropland for pest management and becoming successful.
DAE sources said some 5,935 light traps have been set up across the district.
Light trap is a modern eco-friendly method to kill harmful insects in cropland.
The pest arrives near the light trap and fall in the water pot placed under the trap. The water of the pot was mixed with the detergent or kerosene.
Babul Chandra Roy, sub-assistant agriculture officer (SAAO) of DAE said they received tremendous results in setting up light trap in the district.
He said Majra, Brown Plant Hopper and some other species are harmful insects.
