Family members of ex-CEO, chairman want to take charge of Evaly

Family members of the controversial e-commerce platform Evaly’s former managing director and CEO Mohammad Russel and ex-chairman Shamima Narsin want to take the charge of the company.

They have expressed their desire in this regard before the court on Wednesday.

After hearing the statements submitted by Russel and Nasrin’s family members, the court asked them to place their plan as an affidavit before the court on February 15.

The High Court bench of Justice Muhammad Khurshid Alam Sarkar passed the order.

Nasrin’s mother Farida Talukder, father Rafiqul Alam Talukder and Evaly’s former executive director Ehsan Sarwar Chowdhury on Wednesday appeared before the court and said they want to buy all the shares of Russel and Narsin and be included in the court-appointed board.

Earlier on February 7, the same court asked the family members to show cause within two weeks as to why their bank accounts should not be frozen.

Following a petition filed by a customer, the same High Court bench on September 22 last year directed the concerned bodies to restrain from selling, transferring, or disposing of Evaly’s assets until case disposal is filed with the High Court.

Later on October 1, the court formed a five-member body to oversee the management of Evaly Limited.

The court appointed Justice Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik, a former judge of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court, as the chairman of the company and Mahbub Kabir Milon, an additional secretary of the government, as the ex officio managing director.
