Former Sonagazi OC Moazzem Hossain will be arrested soon, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has said.
"There is no lack of efforts on the part of the government to arrest him," he said during a press briefing at his ministry on Monday.
With an arrest warrant on the head, which a Dhaka court had issued on May 27, Moazzem is now "on the run".
The warrant is related to his filming Feni madrasa student Nusrat Jahan Rafi, a rape victim, without consent during interrogation and circulating it on the internet.
On April 6, Feni madrasa student Nusrat Jahan Rafi was set afire for allegedly refusing to withdraw a sexual assault case filed against his madrasa principal, and she died four days later on April 10.
The attack on her sparked protests and drew condemnation even from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina who also affirmed that not a single person involved in the murder will be spared.
