Former ambassador to Vietnam Maroof Zaman who went missing more than 15 months ago has returned home, said police.

“His daughter informed police that he returned home last night,” Abdul Latif, chief of Dhanmondi Police Station, said on Saturday, reports bdnews24.com.

Zaman, who served as Bangladesh’s ambassador to Vietnam, left his Dhanmondi residence on December 2017 to pick up his daughter Samiha Zaman from the Dhaka airport, but never reached there.

A day after Zaman went missing, his family had filed a complaint with the Dhanmondi police.

Police found his car abandoned on the road leading to the Purbachal residential area.

Zaman joined the Bangladesh Army as a captain in 1977 and later left the job for health reasons. In 1982, he joined the foreign ministry.
