A court in Dhaka has granted a three-day remand, allowing police to interrogate Evaly Managing Director Mohammad Rassel his wife Shamima Nasrin in a case involving charges of fraud.

Dhaka's Metropolitan Magistrate Atiqul Islam issued the order in response to the police's petition for a 10-day remand on Friday, reports bdnews24.com.

Public Prosecutor Abdullah Abu presented the remand plea on behalf of the police. Lawyers Moniruzzaman Asad and ZR Khan Robin represented Rassel and Shamima during the hearing in the court.

A bail plea for Rassel and Shamima was rejected by the court.

RAB arrested Rassel and Shamima Nasrin, also the chairman of the company, on Thursday in connection with a lawsuit filed by a customer alleging fraud. They were later interrogated at the RAB headquarters.

Arif Baker, the accuser, filed the case claiming that he saw Evaly’s advertising and made orders worth Tk 310,000 from the site. The orders have yet to be fulfilled, long after they were made.

Baker contacted the Evaly offices and its CEO over the purchases and he responded with death threats, “frightening” the man, according to the police.
