Emphasis on valid job demand, fair recruitment process

Valid job demands and fair recruitment process are crucial for ensuring safe migration, said diplomats and stakeholders at a discussion on Friday.

They also emphasised the need for enforcement of existing law to stop human trafficking in the name of labour migration.

The discussion was organised by Bangladesh High Commission at Bandar Seri Begawan in Brunei on the occasion of International Migration Day (IMD)-2020.

Jelal Hossain, First Secretary at the Bangladesh labour wing in Brunei briefed about the significance of IMD at the programme.

He said in absence of good governance and exploitation, rights violation increase in the process of migration.     

In her speech, Nahida Rahman Shumona, Bangladesh High Commissioner in Brunei said every worker should be trained and develop their skills before going to job destination country.

High commission awarded eight Bangladeshi expatriates following their outstanding contribution in sending remittance back home.

Ms Shumona handed over honorarium crests and certificates the Bangladeshis at the programme.
