Embassy in Bangkok facilitates repatriation of 48 Bangladeshis

The Embassy of Bangladesh in Bangkok has facilitated the repatriation of another group of 48 Bangladeshis stranded in Thailand.

Carrying the passengers, a special flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines left Bangkok for Dhaka on Wednesday.

A total of 41 Thai and other foreign nationals also boarded the flight which touched down at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 4:00am today.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh has arranged this special flight on self-payment basis to repatriate stranded Bangladeshis in Thailand.

Ms Shahnaz Gazi, Charge d' Affaires a.i. of the Embassy, has thanked the Thai Government for extending their cooperation in facilitating the flight.

The Bangladesh Embassy in Bangkok has so far arranged eight special flights from Bangkok to Dhaka on April 17, May 14, May 23, June 26, July 15, September 2, October 6 and November 18 to send back a total of 349 Bangladeshis nationals stranded in the Southeast Asian country.

It may be mentioned that the Bangladesh Embassy in Bangkok also facilitated two-repatriation flights from Cambodia to Bangladesh on July 7 and September 30 2020.

A total of 135 stranded Bangladeshis arrived in the country via these two flights, said a government press release.
