Elimination of child labour by 2025!

The government aims to formulate new work plans to eliminate child labour from the country within the year 2025.

State Minister for Labour and Employment Affairs Mujibul Haque came up with the disclosure on Sunday.

"The government would initiate new work plans to stop hazardous child labour by 2021 and to stop all kinds of child labour within 2025," he said.

The junior minister said it while presiding over the fifth meeting of National Child Labour Welfare Council (NCLWC) at a hotel in Dhaka.

He said the committees to stop child labour would be more active at district and upazila levels. Officials of Department of Inspection of Factories and Establishments would also be included in this regard.

BSS said that the child labour-free upazilas would also be awarded from the NCLWC.

Acting Secretary of the ministry Afroza Khan, International Labour Organisation (ILO) Country Director Gagan Rajbhandari, Inspector General of Department of Inspection of Factories and Establishments M Shamsuzzaman Bhuiyan, National Women Lawyers Association Executive Director Advocate Salma Ali were present, among others.
