At least eight people died and one was injured after being electrocuted at Kadai village of Sirajganj sadar upazila.
The deceased have been identified as Abdullah, 13, a class VII student, Rafiqul Islam, 30, Momin, 30, Sajib, 13, a class VII student, Abdus Sattar, 50, Reaz, 14, a class VIII student, Anwar Hossain, 35, Habib, 25, of the village, reports UNB.
The incident took place around 12:30pm when nine people came in contact of a live wire while shifting a makeshift shop, leaving them critically injured.
They were rushed to Sadar Hospital where doctors declared eight of them dead, said Dr Faridul Islam, a resident medical officer of the hospital.
The injured is now undergoing treatment at the hospital, he added.
