Eid-ul-Fitr Saturday if moon sighted Friday

The holy Eid-ul-Fitr will be observed across the country on Saturday if the Shawal moon is sighted on Friday.

A meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee will be held on Friday at the conference room of Islamic Foundation in the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque complex here.

All preparations for holding the Eid congregations have already been completed across the country.

On the occasion of the Eid-ul-Fitr, the three-day public holiday is beginning on Friday. June 14 was the only workday between the Eid holidays, weekends and holiday for Shab-e-Qadr.

The government has chalked out elaborate programmes to celebrate the holy Eid-ul-Fitr with due respect and in a smooth manner. National flags will be hoisted at government, autonomous and non-government offices and other important establishments.

Miniature national flags and flags inscribed with “Eid Mubarak’ will be displayed at important traffic islands and light posts in the city, reports BSS.

Besides, designated government offices and other establishments would be illuminated on the night following the day of Eid-ul-Fitr.

Bangladesh Television, Bangladesh Betar and private television channels will air special programmes and newspapers publish supplements on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
