Vehicles were seen moving slowly on Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway on Friday morning as a large number of vehicles left Dhaka for various destination of the country ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.
Police said vehicles carrying the home-bound people are moving slowly at Chandana intersection, Board Bazar, Gazipur intersection, and Tongi due to heavy pressure of vehicles.
Besides, drivers were seen driving their vehicles carefully due to the potholes caused by the ongoing construction works of Bangladesh Road Transport Authority.
Highway police, metropolitan police, community police, and volunteers from city corporation are working to maintain discipline on the highway, reports UNB.
Although the three-day holiday for Eid will begin Sunday, a large number of people left the capital today taking the advantage of weekly holiday.
The Eid-ul-Azha is scheduled to be celebrated on August 12.
