EC suspends Regent Hospital Chairman Shahed’s NID card

The Election Commission (EC) has suspended the national identity card (NID) of Regent Hospital Chairman Mohammad Shahed for changing his name fraudulently.

Secretary of the EC Secretariat Md Alamgir gave the information after the 66th Commission meeting on Monday afternoon, reports BSS.

Mentioning that Shahed had changed his name from ‘Shahed Karim’ to ‘Mohammad Shahed’ in the national identity card on the pretext of forgery, the secretary said, “Investigation is underway to find out the persons from EC involved with this fraud…Action will be taken against them and Shahed on the basis of evidence.”

It is known that his father’s name is Sirajul Karim, mother is late Sufia Karim, but now that he is using NID with the purposely changed name of ‘Mohammad Shahed, he said.

“The number of the National Identity Card issued on his name on 25 August 2008 was 2692618145885, and his current smart NID number in his name is 8650406187,” the secretary added.

It was also stated in the meeting that while amending his name in 2019, Shahed submitted birth registration, citizenship certificate, copy of passport and ‘O’ level certificate, but it has been revealed that he has passed SSC examination.
