The Election Commission (EC) on Sunday accepted nomination papers of five candidates for the mayoral post of Khulna City Corporation polls scheduled to be held on May 15.
The candidates are -- Talukder Abdul Khaleque of Awami League, Nazrul Islam Manju of BNP, Shafiqul Islam of Jatiya Party, Mawlana Mozammel of Islami Andolan, and Mizanur Rahman of Communist Party Bangladesh (CPB), according to a UNB report.
Earlier on April 12, the candidates submitted their nomination papers.
Elections to Gazipur city corporations will also be held on the same day as Khulna.
