E-government plans for 10 municipalities underway: Palak

Work is underway to prepare e-government master plans for 10 municipalities as part of government’s intent to make digital services available for all.

State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak said it on Friday at a seminar, says a state-owned BSS report citing a press release.

"We're making master plans for 10 municipalities....we're taking initiatives to formulate master plans for all municipalities in phases to promote ICT-based services across the country," said he.

The seminar titled, 'E-government Master plan for Digital Bangladesh' was organised at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) on the occasion of the Digital World-2017.

Palak, speaking as the chief guest, said the government has declared its 'Vision of 2021' of building a Digital Bangladesh to accelerate economic progress by ensuring people's easy access to digital services.

Utility services, including holding taxes, water bill and other ICT-based services, will be made available after implementation of the masterplan, the state minister said.

Senior officials of the ICT Division and representatives from different local and international organisations, among others, spoke at the seminar with Executive Director of Bangladesh Computer Council Swapan Kumar Sarkar in the chair.

'Digital World, 2017' is being held this year under the auspices of the ICT Division with the slogan of 'Ready for Tomorrow' as part of continuous process to ensure the country's development through digitalisation.
