Authorities have suspended voting at Bangladesh-Kuwait Maitree Hall of Dhaka University after finding there irregularities, like sealed ballot papers, to be true.

Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Prof Muhammad Samad announced this around 9:30am, around one and a half hours after the voting began.

Proctor Golam Rabbani told media persons that they suspended the balloting as the allegations of the students were found true.

Students and candidates of different panels alleged that some ballot papers were stuffed into boxes in favour of the hall unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League-nominated panel the night before.

The 43,000 students of Dhaka University have begun voting to elect representatives to the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union or DUCSU after 28 years this morning.
