DU suspends 69 students for admission test forgery

The disciplinary board of Dhaka University has suspended its 69 students on charges of their involvement in the admission test forgery.

The body took the decision at a meeting with vice chancellor Md Akhtaruzzaman in the chair on Tuesday.

The suspended are students of the academic sessions from 2012-13 to 2017-2018, according to media reports.

Emerging from the meeting, vice chancellor Md Akhtaruzzaman told reporters: "We have suspended them based on intelligence reports which primarily prove them to have been involved in the forgery.

"There is also a scope for them to prove their innocence. They will be asked to show-cause within seven days as to why they should not be permanently expelled."

Earlier in June, police pressed charges against 125 people, including 87 students of Dhaka University for their involvement in forgeries, including those of admission tests.
