DU students seize four buses protesting ‘sexual harassment’ in bus

Students of Dhaka University (DU) on Sunday seized four buses of Trust Paribahan on the campus, protesting 'sexual harassment' to a female student of the university by a staff of the transport company at Kawran Bazar intersection on May 17.

Sahabudding, helper of a bus of Trust Paribahan , misbehaved with the victim, a student of Finance Department, and sexually harassed her while she was travelling in the bus. However, she managed to leave the bus at Shahbagh intersection, said victim's friend Rashed Mahmud.

After the incident the friends of the victim seized one bus of Trust Paribahan on Thursday and demanded punishment of the helper.

As the bus authorities remained indifferent over their demand, the students also seized another three buses of Trust Paribahan along with their staff.

A total of four buses of Trust Paribahan were seen parked at the Mall Chattar on the campus in the afternoon, witnesses said.

Proctor Dr AKM Golam Rabbani said he heard the matter but no written complaint has yet been lodged in this regard, reports UNB.
